Also... here is a review written by the owner of the largest Bowlbound group of the internet which does a pretty good job of describing the set:
I purchased the Set IX teams last night. Seeing the final products
today after seeing some of the preliminary under review charts, was
refreshing. This set may very well be the most complete set of teams of
any set.
It is headlined by three powerhouses...2020 Alabama, 2018 Clemson, and
1997 Nebraska. All three of these teams are very, very good. I mean
top notch good.
Then you have three of the top five 'undefeateds' from the magical 1973
season. That year saw six teams enter the bowls undefeated. Two had
one tie each, but Notre Dame, Penn State, and Alabama, all were
unblemished going into the bowls. Notre Dame snuck out a one point
victory over Bama in the Sugar Bowl and Penn State and Michigan (Set
VII) remained perfect as well after their bowls. Three top teams from
1973 come in this set.
The 1977 Arkansas team is very tough. I just look at that chart and say
they are interesting, in a good way. Remember the 2013 Iron Bowl
between Auburn-Bama? The game that ended on the missed field goal in
the end zone returned by Auburn for the win? You get that team, too.
Two solid Colorado teams are in the set; 1989 and 2001. The 1989 team
played for the National Championship without starting QB, Sal Aunese who
was diagnosed with stomach cancer and died. Then, in 2001, they fielded
a solid team again who knocked off #1 Nebraska.
Georgia in 2017 was set to win the National Championship. Despite losing
to Auburn in the regular season, the Bulldogs toppled them in the SEC
South Championship. They made it to the CFB Playoff and beat Oklahoma,
only to lose in OT to Alabama in the championship. Very solid team here.
Who didn't like 1969 LSU in Set I? They were one of my favorites and I
cannot wait to play the Set III formula version of this team. Another
mid 60's team in 1965 Michigan State had better numbers than the famed
1966 squad that tied Notre Dame 10-10 in the game of the century. The
'65 team will hold their own.
Those darn 2019 Minnesota Golden Gophers. I remember they beat Penn
State on my birthday while my wife and I were away together. Tough
defeat for me to swallow, but Minnesota needed more representation and
this team's offense was very good. The 1960 Missouri team may very well
be the best team from Mizzou ever. While they did lose to Kansas, an
ineligible player cost the Jayhawks that game and gave the Tigers an
undefeated season. Very balanced team.
The remade Roger Staubach 1963 Navy team...that is one to have just for
the nostalgia alone. Option all day with that offense and their defense
is tough enough that if you keep any game close the Middies would have a
chance.
And interesting sneaky team is the 2017 UCF squad. What an offense.
These guys could play some very interesting shootouts. Another sleeper
team here is the remade Set II 1972 USC team. Very, very solid team.
Maybe a little disappointing statistically, but they are a top notch
challenger.
The Set I remake 1960 Washington team is a step up positively to the
original chart designed by Neft. The new chart is tougher and they will
play a better game against Set III formula opponents. Finally, 2017
Wisconsin is another very solid team that may be sneaky good. Watch out
for them when you play because they have a very solid offense and their
defense, while not outstanding, can contain an offense enough to cause
them fits. This team is sneaky good.....
Can't wait to play some of my tourney games with these guys. All will
replace their remake counterparts and the new teams will be included in
the tourney. I need to break from here so I can get rolling....
