Description
Antique/vintage porcelain figurine of a peacock with a cobalt blue glazed body with hand painted gold accents. On the bottom is the mark of Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik AG (Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Factory AG) in blue underglaze. Underneath the mark is "K_" in gold. Along the side in black is "Made in Germany". On the top of the base of the figurine the letters "AS" followed by a small cross incised into the porcelain. The resource I used to identify this piece was "Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain to the Present" by Robert E. Rontge. On the bottom left of page 142 there is a drawing showing a closed crown with a cross on top. Beneath is symmetrical cursive shapes. Because there was no number underneath the mark I was able to narrow down the manufacturing time to be between 1915-1936. According to the book, around the turn of century the 'Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik Triebner & Co' became the joint stock company 'Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik Ag' that later dissolved in 1936 due to financial problems (pages 494 - 495). I was not able to find any contradicting information from other sources. I am far from an expert and you have different knowledge I would be happy to know.
The figurine measures approximately 12.5" long x 5" tall x 3.5" across.
Does not come with the green stone in the pictures.
The shipping charges are based on final dimensions of the package after the peacock is double boxed. Happy to accommodate free local pickup
